Fanally … I know my parish
Ushetu, Tanzania, April 23rd, 2018
I think that all of us would vie for the honor of recounting what we were able to live last Saturday. We went to be able to celebrate mass for the first time in the village of Ndairunde. I had a great desire to reach it, among many reasons, the strongest was that it was the only village I had not yet visited in our mission. That is to say, that of the 53, I had been able to visit 52 of them at least once, and only this one was left

New Doctor for the Institute Servants of the Lord: Sister Maria del Fiat Miola, SSVM
On this day, Monday April 16, at The Catholic University of America, in Washington DC, Sister Maria del Fiat Miola, SSVM, earned a Doctorate degree in Early Christian Studies, after having defended her dissertation, which is entitled “Spaces of Salvation in Sixth-Century Arles: The Women’s Monastery as Household and Family.”
Our sister presented her dissertation before the examining committee and her parents, who afterwards had to leave while the five professors of the committee questioned the doctoral student at great length. The committee of the University was composed of her Director, Dr. William Klingshirn, two professors who were Readers of the thesis, and two other professors who acted as President and Secretary of the committee. Sr. Fiat defended successfully, and obtained the title “with distinction.”
Afterwards, sisters from the Provincial House and the Houses of Formation, Sr. Fiat’s parents, various professors, priests, and many other members of the academic community of the University were all present to celebrate with a toast.
It is a great joy that this sister of ours concluded these years of study and preparation with success. We trust that her intellectual work will be of great benefit for our Congregation and for the Church. We congratulate Sister Maria del Fiat for her new degree, and we entrust her to the prayers of all.
The graduation ceremony and official reception of the Ph.D. degree will take place on May 12, at The Catholic University, in front of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

“The persecuted christians in Iraq don’t consider themselves heroes, they believe that they did what they were supposed to do”
Father Luis Montes, priest of the Institue of the Incarnate Word, collected these photos that show what remains of the disaster left by the flight of the terrorists. They destroyed everything over time, first of all everything related to Christianity.
Despite having little for which to return, since entire towns were reduced to rubble, the Christians are coming back. Nevertheless, the wound inflicted has been deep. There have been too many years of suffering.

New Adoration Chapel in Suncho Corral, Argentina
By the grace of God, last Sunday we inaugurated the provisional chapel for perpetual adoration in our town. The idea was to wait a bit more while the area where the chapel would be was prepared, but as circumstances unfolded, God showed us that he wanted to be adored as soon as possible! “Seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and everything else will be added unto you.” (Mt 6:33) Pray for the fruits! “Spiritual Exercises”… These two rich words are capable of elevating an entire generation, an entire world. They can produce a spiritual revolution.
In fact they have produced one. By the ironies of grace, the instrument for this spiritual revolution is a little book: the book of the Exercises according to the mind of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, or Ignatian Exercises.
For centuries they have overcome trials by fire, but their doctrine and method have remained intact. Their author is God. His instrument is St. Ignatius of Loyola. The entire book is permeated with noble spiritual grandeur. (Monsignor Adolfo Tortola, Archbishop of Paraná 1962-83)
