Patron Feast

Monastery in “El Pueyo”

Yesterday we celebrated the feast of Nuestra Señora del Pueyo (Our Lady of El Pueyo). We held a procession from the cave of San Balandrán, the shepherd to whom Our Lady appeared in the year 1001. At the halfway point the standard of the Benedictine martyrs joined the procession, making its first appearance. It was embroidered by the SSVM contemplatives of Velletri, Italy. Before Mass there was the blessing of a majolica (Italian-style earthenware) which commemorates the apparition of Our Lady and at the end of the Celebration we had the traditional blessing of bread.

This past April 11th, the Maronite Archbishop, S.E. Youssef Soueif organized the annual meeting for priests and religious on the Island of Cypres. This time, different religious leaders were also present, and gave a brief but interesting presentation on the peaceful coexistence among the people of different religions in Cypres. We pray for the unity of Christians, for peace in the world, and for religious freedom.

Visit of the Apostolic Nuncio to the parish in Ulyanovskh, Russia

We would like to thank God for all the blessings we have received on the occasion of the visit of the Apostolic Nuncio for the Russian Federation, Mons. Celestino Migliore, and of our bishop, with other events.

Saturday, April 6^th, our bishop, Monsignor Clemens Pikkel, graced our community with his presence for the occasion. At midday he celebrated Holy Mass in one of our communities, Karsun, a town that we serve which is two hours away. In this town there are 13 Armenian families, a community that we visit every Sunday. During the Holy mass, which we celebrated in the room of an apartment, since there is no chapel in that city, five young people were able to receive the sacrament of Confirmation…

Fr. Diego Pombo, IVE, Spiritual Father of the SSVM, celebrated the Holy Mass at the altar above the remains of John Paul II in the Vatican, and the sisters who were celebrating 25 years of vows were able to renew their formula of profession, responding once more to Jesus’s call to be his spouse.

Friday, April 6th we had the Easter festivities in the school. The children enjoyed themselves very much with the games, music, costumes, and shared a festive snack prepared by the sisters for the celebration.
