From May 2 to 11, 2014 some members o
f the IVE Houses of Formation joined our quasi-parish in Bagong Barrio, Kalookan City for its 9th Holy Mission. It coincided with the quasi-parish’s preparation for the feast of their patroness, Our Lady of Lujan, held last May 11.
Each day of the Holy Mission began with the morning procession along the streets of the Quasi Parish which is immediately followed by the Holy Hour. Then, the rest of the day is spent with home visitations, sick calls, children and youth missions. At 7pm, the doctrinal points were given before the celebration of the Holy Mass. Finally, festive fogons were held outside the parish church, featuring various cultural performances and comedy sketches.
During the Holy Mission, another mission was conducted, this time by a group of eye care professionals from See the Lord foundation. This included free eye examinations and distribution of free eye glasses. More than 300 parishioners benefited from the said mission.
On May 8, we celebrated the Solemnity of Our Lady of Lujan, principal patroness of the Institute of the Incarnate Word. during the Holy Mass, new members of the Secular Third Order were admitted, while the rest of its members made the Marian Consecration according to the method of St. Louis de Montfort.
On the eve of the parish’s fiesta, a procession took place with Our Lady of Lujan and St. Lutgardis wherein the various parish groups also participated. The faithful processed along the streets of Bagong Barrio, while praying the Holy Rosary.
Various activities were set during the parish’s fiesta. The fiesta Mass was celebrated by the parish priest, Fr. Luis Zapata May 11, fiesta mass was celebrated by the parish priest, Fr. Luis Zapata and in the afternoon a special games for children was held. Amidst the scorching heat of the sun, many children happily participated during the event.
We thank God for the various graces he bestowed on us, both to the missionaries and the parishioners. May He, through the intercession of the Blessed Mother bring to completion all the works we have done.
