The mother of Cristina stopped before this image to pray before entering the church on the day of the attack that took her daughter to Heaven. She entrusted Cristina to the Mother of God, and the Blessed Virgin granted her the gift of martyrdom.

In our pilgrimage yesterday through several churches in Baghdad, we went first to the parish of the Ascension of the Lord. In the sanctuary is this impressive cross with a double inscription: in Arabic “The Cross is the power of God,” and in Aramaic “the Cross triumphs.”
